Projects

Austria – Interim Storage Seibersdorf

Machine for reconditioning and post-conditioning of homogeneously and inhomogeneously cemented, radioactive waste packages.

task and problem definition

Maximize safety and minimize final disposal volume

  • Dismantling of drums with radioactive waste

  • Corrosion due to moisture inside and outside the drums

  • Dry process to avoid secondary waste

  • Fulfilling all occupational safety and radiation protection regulations

solution

Dismantling

Complete dry dismantling by means of cutting, milling and drilling modules as well as special tools. Reduction of the diameter of the concrete matrix of homogeneous drums.

Separation

Analysis and documentation of the drum contents and separation of the contaminated material from the non-contaminated. Further storage of the contaminated material in new drums. The volume of radioactive waste can be reduced by up to 50%.
